[Johnna Kirk] Let's talk dirty...laundry that is! + a few of my fav things

Hey Reader!

Let's chat about everyone's favorite topic: laundry! Because, let's be real, none of us can avoid it (unless we're okay with shelling out for a laundry service, which most of us aren't).

Using the Right Products
First things first, let's talk products. It's important to pay attention to what you're using, especially if you have sensitive skin. Always give those labels a glance. If your skin starts acting up, it might be time to switch to something gentler.

And about fabric softeners? Well, they can be a bit tricky, especially with towels. I know they make your clothes feel like a cloud but they can also cause issues for sensitive skin and did you know that using fabric softener with towels makes them soak up less water? That's why you have towels that seem to slide over your skin but never dry you off! 🤷‍♀️ Skipping the softener for a bit can do wonders.

It's All in The Technique
Now, onto technique. Sure, separating colors from whites is ideal, but if you're using cold water and being mindful of what you toss in, you might just be okay. But if you're a stickler for bright whites, nothing beats a hot water wash with a bit of bleach.

When White is Not Really White
Ever had a mishap with those shirts sporting white stripes? Yeah, me too. Throw those babies in with your color load and toss in a Shout! Color-Catcher for good measure. But honestly, washing in cold water with a gentle detergent usually does the trick.

Sort Everything
Sorting is key, my friend. And don't forget to check those pockets thoroughly—I've learned the hard way that loose change and Kleenex do not fare well in the wash. And crayons? Let's just say they make for some very colorful surprises in the dryer.

Consider Special Fabrics
Different fabrics, different rules. Always check those washing instructions. The tags are like little laundry cheat sheets, guiding you through the process. And whatever you do, don't overload the machine—about 80% capacity is ideal.

Oh, and a little tip for liquid detergent users: pour it in before adding the clothes. And if your machine has a dispenser, use it.

Hope these tips make laundry day a bit less daunting. If you have a tip for doing laundry, please, like please, hit reply and share. I'm always on the lookout for good tips.

Now, if you'll excuse me, I've got my own pile of laundry waiting for me. 🧺

Here's to hoping for a surprisingly smooth laundry day (if that's even possible 😉).

Catch you later,

Johnna

Hey Reader! Before diving into the weekend, take a moment to reflect: What worked well this week? What felt overwhelming? A quick reset now can make next week so much smoother. Pick one small adjustment - whether it’s simplifying your to-do list, setting clearer priorities, or building in buffer time - and let that be your focus. For me? I realized that my daily routine wasn’t actually built to support my success - it was fueling my procrastination. I kept trying to “fix” my lack of...

Hey Reader! This week, we’re talking about persuasion without the push - how to connect with your audience in a way that draws them in instead of making them run for the exit. Whether it’s your emails, content, or offers, the secret isn’t in saying more—it’s in removing resistance. Let’s dive in and make sure you’re sending all the right signals. You know the drill. Step inside the first ten feet of a mall, and there they are—stationed like a human bear trap, clipboard in hand, scanning the...

Hey Reader! I blame my coffee-fueled morning and the twinkly Christmas lights we put up yesterday. (Yes, I’m that person.) I swore I wouldn’t get all sentimental in your inbox this week. Because if your inbox looks like mine right now … whew, the overwhelm. But here I am, sipping my coffee, staring at my sparkly tree, and feeling all the things. It’s Thanksgiving week, and between watching the Macy’s Parade (still crossing my fingers for no wardrobe malfunctions this year) and trying to dodge...
