I thought I was the multitasking queen

Hey Reader!

For a long time, I wore the “multi-tasking queen” title like a badge of honor.

I could answer emails while listening to a podcast. Jump between client work, content ideas, text messages, and somehow convince myself I was getting a lot done.

By the end of the day, I was exhausted.

But if someone had asked me, "So... what actually moved your business forward today?"

I don't think I could've answered them.

I was busy. Constantly.

Yet I always had this nagging feeling that I was falling behind.

SCIENCE ENTERED ROOM

It wasn't until much later that I stumbled across something called the Zeigarnik Effect.

It's the idea that our brains hold onto unfinished things more tightly than finished ones.

Which makes so much sense when you think about it.

  • The product draft you haven't completed.
  • The landing page that's almost finished.
  • The email you've rewritten six times but still haven't hit send.

Those things keep tapping you on the shoulder all day long.

Meanwhile, your brain barely notices the client you helped, the relationship you strengthened, or the important decision you finally made.

No wonder we finish the day feeling like we didn't accomplish enough.

WHAT I LEARNED

That realization changed the way I work.

Instead of trying to do everything, I started asking myself one question:

"What are the three things I could finish today that would create the biggest ripple in my business?"

Not twenty. Three.

Then I focused on closing those loops before opening new ones and something unexpected happened.

WHAT HAPPENED?

I didn't just become more productive.

  • I felt lighter
  • Calmer
  • Like my brain could finally exhale

Ironically, that's also when my business became more profitable and sustainable.

I've come to believe momentum doesn't come from doing more.

It comes from closing the loops that have been quietly borrowing your attention all day.

I'm curious...What's one open loop your brain keeps reminding you about?

It could be client work, content, a project you're avoiding.

Hit reply and share it (that's a closed loop in itself).

Hey Reader! One decision followed me around for more than a year. Not in a dramatic, flashing-neon-sign kind of way. It just kept quietly showing up, which was somehow even more annoying. I’d open my Google Drive to work on something completely different, and there it was. My Membership Ideas folder. At some point, I saw it so often that it practically became part of the furniture. Every few weeks, I’d open it, add another note, tweak an outline, save a new version, and close it again. It...

Hey Reader! Imagine a creator named Maya. Maya had been quietly working on her first digital product for months. The idea was solid. The draft existed. A few people had even told her they wanted it. Still, every time she got close to sharing it, she found one more thing to fix. The title needed work. The workbook could use another page. The checkout button suddenly felt like a major creative decision. You know, the usual extremely important tasks that appear when pressing “publish” starts to...

Hey Reader! A folder can take up a surprising amount of space in your head. For more than a year, I had a master folder in Google Drive called My Digital Products. Right underneath it sat another folder called Membership Ideas. I was in that master folder almost every day, so I saw those two words constantly. It felt like that folder was staring at me and patiently waiting for me to come back. 😅 Inside were idea after idea. Different names. Different outlines. Different versions of the same...
